This dataset consists of soil moisture profiles from permafrost in subarctic Canada. Soil mositure profiles were monitored during summer in 2013 and 2014 in Yukon and Northwest Territories. Monitored sites included peatland plateaus, unburnt and burnt black spruce forests, and additional sites. Full details about this dataset can be found at https://doi.org/10.5285/189900a4-f7a9-41bd-b6f5-eef694209f87

Commission Regulation (EU) No 1089/2010 of 23 November 2010 implementing Directive 2007/2/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards interoperability of spatial data sets and services
2010-12-08
Moisture was measured using a PR2 profile probe with 4 sensing elements at 10, 20, 30 and 40cm and a portable reading meter HH2 (Delta-T Devices Ltd, Cambridge, UK). Following the manufacturer instructions, access tubes were inserted in the soil using an augering kit to minimize disruption in the structure of the soil profile. The access tubes were initially placed as deep as thaw depth allowed and further inserted deeper as the active layer thickened. At time of measurement, the PR2 profile probe was connected to the reading meter, removed from the protective tube and inserted in the access tubes. Values of volumetric soil moisture (m3 m-3) were recorded from the meter using the default calibration.
