Additional information

The Mineral Reconnaissance Programme started in 1972 following earlier work on uranium exploration. It was succeeded by the Minerals Programme in 1997. Data collected on a project basis covering many of the mineralised areas of the UK. The level of spatial detail varies from regional drainage samples collected at 1 sample per square kilometre to soil samples at 1 sample per 10 m spacing.

Project was a successor to uranium exploration for UKAEA and has been funded by the DTI as the MRP and Minerals Programme since 1972. All geochemical results added to corporate Geochemistry Database.
