Chilbolton Facility for Atmospheric and Radio Research (CFARR) Drop Counting Raingauge Data, Sparsholt College Site
Data were collected by Chilbolton Facility for Atmospheric and Radio Research (CFARR) Raingauges from 15th of March 2002 to the present at Sparsholt College, Hampshire. The dataset contains measurements of rainfall accumulation as measured by RAL Rapid Response Drop Counting rain gauges.
Data were collected by the Chilbolton Facility for Atmospheric and Radio Research (CFARR) Radiometrics Radiometer from the 23rd of August 2007 to the present at Chilbolton, Hampshire. The dataset contains measurements of the total liquid water at zenith, together with the vertical profile of water vapour density. Accuracy of integrated water vapour (IWV) retrieval: ~1 – 2 mm Accuracy of total liquid water path (LWP) retrieval: ~15% in non-precipitating conditions.
Data have been collected from the 4th of April 2002 to the present by the Ultra-violet Raman lidar at Chilbolton Observatory, Hampshire. The dataset contains measurements of attenuated backscatter coefficients of aerosols within the atmosphere, and humidity mixing ratios. Plots of the attenuated backscatter coefficient, and of the humidity mixing ratios, at different heights are also available.
2km resolution data from the NIMROD system data describe rain-rate observations taken at Chenies, Herfordshire, England, by NIMROD, which is a very short range forecasting system used by the Met Office. 1km rain rate data are available from 2011 until present. Radar images from the C-band (5.3 cm wavelength) radar are received by the Nimrod system 5 minute intervals respectively.
Dual-polar products from the Met Office's Clee Hill C-band rain radar, Shropshire, England. Data from this site include augmented ldr (linear depolarisation ratio) and zdr (differential reflectivity) scan data (both long and short pulse), available from August 2018 to present. The radar is a C-band (5.3 cm wavelength) radar and data are received by the Nimrod system at 5 minute intervals.
Digital one-minute values of the Geomagnetic field elements from Lerwick, Eskdalemuir and Hartland Observatories. Data are available from 1979 up to the present day. Most data are definitive, but recent data (within the last 2-3 years) and data between 1979 and 1982 are provisional and may be corrected in the future. The data from these observatories will not only aid scientific research into rates of change of the magnetic field and increase the accuracy of the BGS Global Geomagnetic Model, but will also provide data to exploration geophysicists engaged in current and future oil exploration.
We collect data from sensors located throughout the UK and beyond capturing information on properties such as groundwater temperature and levels, barometric air pressure and motion sensors. We have recently started collecting information related to the energy efficiency of buildings and have developed techniques for incorporating data from sensors operated by other institutions. Some of the data we collect is available through the sensor API and sensor dashboard which provides easy access to the API data.
Chilbolton Facility for Atmospheric and Radio Research (CFARR) Vaisala PWD21 Present Weather Detector Data, Chilbolton Site
Data were collected by the Chilbolton Facility for Atmospheric and Radio Research (CFARR) Present Weather Sensor from 21st of August 2009 to the present at Chilbolton, Hampshire. The dataset contains reports of current weather conditions and those over the last hour using both NWS (National Weather Service) and WMO (World Meteorological Organisation) weather codes.
This dataset is the complete collection of the British Geological Survey (BGS) held Marine Survey data. The data held includes digital data and analogue records, plus associated physical sample material. Data are stored within the National Geosciences Data Centre (NGDC) and the Marine Environmental Data and Information Network (MEDIN) Data Archive Centre (DAC) for Geology and Geophysics. BGS have collected Marine Survey data since 1966 and have also been provided with a range of third-party data. The data includes geophysical data (seismic reflection, side-scan sonar, multibeam echosounder bathymetry and backscatter, gravity and magnetics) and sample data from boreholes, cores and seabed grabs (logs, geological descriptions, geochemical, particle size analysis and geotechnical data). The majority of surveys are within the United Kingdom Continental Shelf (UKCS) area. Individual survey data coverage varies, depending on survey type (sampling, geophysics, multibeam or multi-disciplinary) and objectives (regional or local, shallow or deep). These data are applicable to a wide range of uses including environmental, geotechnical, geophysical and geological studies.
