  • This dataset consists of invertebrate abundance data and associated ecosystem measurements (Including leaf litter depth and mass, seedlings, soil moisture and nutrients, and rainfall) measured within an area of lowland, old growth dipterocarp rainforest in the Maliau Basin Conservation Area, Sabah, Malaysia between 2015 and 2016. Data were collected during a collaborative project which was included in the NERC Human-modified tropical forest (HMTF) programme.   • The dataset collates the relative concentration of nearly 300 antimicrobial resistance (AMR) genes found in soil locations across Scotland. Soils were obtained from the National Soils Inventory of Scotland (NSIS2), from which the total community DNA were extracted and provided to assess AMR gene content. Sampling of the NSIS2 was conducted between 2007-2010 at 183 soil locations representing intersections of a 20km grid across all of Scotland. For each sample, nearly 300 AMR genes were assessed representing major antibiotic classes, and included many resistance traits: aminoglycosides, beta-lactams, FCA (fluoroquinolone, quinolone, chloramphenicol, florfenicol and amphenicol resistance genes), MLSB (macrolide, lincosamide, streptogramin B), tetracycline, vancomycin, sulphonamide, efflux pumps and integron genes. The data represent relative gene abundance, i.e., the amount of genes per "total bacteria".   • Records for herbaceous and woody plants at 78 nested quadrats on a limestone mountain (Jebel Ichkeul) in Le Parc National de L’Ichkeul are presented. Data for plants represent percent cover (Braun-Blanquet scale), to identify environmental gradients and investigate phytosociology of plant communities. Environmental variables are also presented: altitude, slope, aspect, rock out cropping, index of grazing intensity (78 sites) and olive tree densities by size class (69 sites). Soil pH was collected for 50 sites. Plant surveys were done June to August 1983 by Dr. D.A. Kirk as part of his Master’s thesis degree in Conservation at University College London (1983).
