This data has been recorded during a triaxial rock deformation experiment where a Lanhelin granite samples was subjected to controlled shear failure. The data consists of mechanical data (load, displacement, confining pressure, strain gauge data) and acoustic data necessary to reproduce the seismic tomography presented in 'Rupture energetics in crustal rock from laboratory-scale seismic tomography' by Aben, Brantut, Mitchell and David , Geophysical Research Letters. Acoustic data contains AE source locations and arrival times, sensor locations, arrival times of active acoustic surveys.
The dataset consists of a series of input and output files for the 1D and 3D numerical models used to demonstrate the impact of heat mining for a 100-m long vertical Borehole Heat Exchanger (BHE) in Scotland, assuming a constant or fluctuating surface heat flux. Simulations for a constant heat extraction from the BHE were performed using an updated version of the open-source OpenGeoSys finite-element modelling software (https://www.opengeosys.org/) made available in this repository. This updated version allows for calculation of the energy change in each material group in the models, as part of the HEAT_TRANSPORT process. For each model, the input files include the mesh file (MSH), the Boundary conditions (BC), geometry (GLI), Initial conditions (IC), Fluid properties (MFP), Medium properties (MMP), Material solid properties (MSP), Numerical parameters (NUM), Ouput parameters (OUT), Process (PCS), Reference (RFD), Source-term (ST) and Time (TIM) files. The output files consists of temperature time-series, 1D and 2D temperature profiles extracted from the models domain at different time steps (i.e. Tecplot output files) and of a text file indicating the energy content of each material group at each time step.
These data contain time series of stress, strain, confining pressure, pore pressure, pore volume and elastic wave velocities of samples of quartz sand aggregates deformed under hydrostatic and triaxial conditions at room temperature. This dataset is used and fully described/interpreted in the paper: Hangx S. J. T. and N. Brantut,Micromechanics of high pressure compaction in granular quartz aggregates, submitted to J. Geophys. Collection of data from the PhD Thesis "Thermo-mechanical loading of intact rock and discontinuities" by J Woodman. This collection of data includes raw logged .csv datafiles of uniaxial compression testing and triaxial compression testing on intact synthetic compositions, as well as intact and discontinuous specimens of Thornhill Rock and Midgley Grit at both ambient temperatures, and temperatures up to 100°C.
This data set contains a set of 226 unwrapped, geocoded interferograms derived from InSAR scenes processed over Corbetti Volcano, Ethiopia. The data were assembled from multiple sensors and processed using either the ICSE or GAMMA software package. The images presented here are generally not the same size as the raw InSAR images but instead are cropped to the extents of the volcano and its immediate environs.
This data set characterises the seismicity occurring within 30 km of the Bora - Tullu-Moye volcanic field between 2016 and 2017. It also provides a description of key geologic features in this region. See the README file for a full explanation of the data set.
