This service provides a view of Environmental Change Network (ECN) site locations from which data are collected. There are 12 terrestrial sites and 45 freshwater sites. Sites range from upland to lowland, moor land to chalk grassland, small ponds and streams to large rivers and lakes. ECN is the UK's long-term environmental monitoring programme. A wide range of integrated physical, chemical and biological variables which drive and respond to environmental change are collated, quality controlled and made freely available for scientific research. The data form an important evidence base for UK environmental policy development. ECN is a multi-agency programme sponsored by a consortium of fourteen government departments and agencies. These organisations contribute to the programme through funding either site monitoring and/or network co-ordination activities. These organisations are: Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute, Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council, Cyfoeth Naturiol Cymru - Natural Resources Wales, Defence Science & Technology Laboratory, Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Environment Agency, Forestry Commission, Llywodraeth Cymru - Welsh Government, Natural England, Natural Environment Research Council, Northern Ireland Environment Agency, Scottish Environment Protection Agency, Scottish Government and Scottish Natural Heritage.

Data was collected to look at long-term trends in invertebrate ground predators. This dataset consists of count data (by gender) for all species of spider collected from three habitats (mire, dwarf-shrub heath, pine woodland) at the Cairngorms Environmental Change Network (ECN) site between 2004 and 2021. Spiders were collected in pitfall traps on a two-weekly basis between March and early November. Each habitat contained 10 pitfall traps, spaced 10 m apart. Samples were aggregated by habitat and collection date prior to analysis. The number of male and females of each species was recorded by the same expert araneologist for the duration (2004-2021). Motion activated camera traps were installed in pine woodland and regenerating heathland from 2010 as part of UK Environmental Change Network long-term monitoring in the Allt a'Mharcaidh catchment, Cairngorms National Park, Scotland. The image catalogue contains 8050 wildlife images identified to species or group where possible. This forms part of the accompanying dataset which includes information on over 66,000 classified images, recording the presence of blank (empty) images, wildlife, people, dogs and mountain bikes. Furthermore it includes group identification where a series of images occur within five minutes of each other. This is a digital soil map of the Moor House - Upper Teesdale National Nature Reserve. Mapped polygons represent a range of soil types. The site lies in the North Pennine uplands of England and has an area of 74 km2. It is England's highest and largest terrestrial National Nature Reserve (NNR), a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and a European Special Protection Area. Habitats include exposed summits, extensive blanket peatlands, upland grasslands, pastures, hay meadows and deciduous woodland. Altitude ranges from 290 to 850 m. Moor House - Upper Teesdale is part of the Environmental Change Network (ECN) whcih is the UK's long-term environmental monitoring programme.
