The datasets contains monthly environmental data from HOBO dataloggers which were used to measure precipitation, air temperature, Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR), soil moisture, soil temperature and water level relative to surface from 6 points in 1km2 of upland (RSPB Forsinard Knockfin Heights) and 6 points in a 1km2 of lowland (Plantlife Munsary) blanket peatland within the Flow Country, Caithness and Sutherland. Data was obtained every 15 mins between September 2017 and November 2018 covering the 2018 European Drought Event. Full details about this dataset can be found at https://doi.org/10.5285/1be4eef2-0591-4073-bae2-e00b6ff4462f

The dataset contains peat core data from 7 sites in a 1km2 upland (RSPB Forsinard Knockfin Heights) and 7 sites in a 1km2 of lowland (Plantlife Munsary) blanket peatland within the Flow Country, Caithness and Sutherland. Data was obtained between October 2018 and January 2019. Also included is peat depth data from Knockfin Heights at 100m spacing and Teabag Index data to assess peat decomposition rates at 47 points. The dataset contains water chemistry data collected from peatland headwaters across the Flow Country following a wildfire in May 2019. Samples were collected on a monthly basis from 52 sites across the region from September 2019 to October 2020. Sampling sites were selected to represent peatland catchments in the following conditions: burned near natural, burned drained, unburned near natural, unburned drained and unburned forested. Data were obtained via collection of water samples in situ, and concentrations were derived via subsequent sample processing and analysis. Full details about this dataset can be found at https://doi.org/10.5285/57748e4f-d0a4-4648-8a61-bd1c2066db1e

Location of peat cores and peat properties including moisture, bulk density, ash and organic matter content for short cores (50 cm) collected 10 month post-fire in high, medium and low severity areas within a drained and a near natural area in the footprint of a severe wildfire that impacted >6500 ha of blanket bog and wet heath in the Flow Country of Northern Scotland. Full details about this dataset can be found at https://doi.org/10.5285/31d3b90b-ca4d-41db-bf29-c9f7a426a0cc

Plot-scale percent cover of all plant species recorded between October and December 2019 in 360 1 x 1 m quadrats within two burnt areas of the 2019 Flow Country Wildfire and nearby unburnt control areas and within three additional historic burnt site with recorded wildfires in 1997, 2000 and 2011 respectively and their respective adjacent unburnt controls. At each site, quadrats were located in both “open” and “drain” plots to reflect the potential impact of artificial drainage on vegetation/fire response. For the sites within the footprint of the 2019 wildfire, fire damage data were also collected, only in burnt sites.
